Although I have stopped writing for them to focus on school, I have learned to love writing. This job has shown me that writing about sports is one of my biggest passions in life.
Sports Statistician, Genius Sports
-
My job as a sports statistician was to complete updates on live games while at the stadium or event.
I kept track of yardage, downage, scoring plays, and other significant events. This job provided me with experience in statistics, in a fast-paced environment, where immediate and accurate information is essential.
Bartender, Asher Brewing
- Current
While waiting out COVID, I took on a job as a full-time bartender at a small Brewery. Most of us have had jobs in the restaurant or bar industry while in school (and may choose not to put a bartending job on a resume), I found this experience very helpful in developing customer service skills, in a tough environment where repeat customers were essential to the success of the business.
While learning the “ins and outs” of small breweries, I also gained significant experience in customer relations, money management, organizational skills, and brewery management.
I worked six days a week and usually had eight to ten hour shifts. On most occasions, I was the only bartender on duty, and to this day I have nice relationships with my customers. I still substitute in on occasion, and I am proud to say that my customers are always glad to see me.
Field Manager, Caba Colorado
-
For four years I worked for CABA baseball tournaments all around the state of Colorado. My job was to manage all statistics and enter them into our website, keep track of fields where the tournaments were taking place, make sure the fields were set up correctly, the umpires were present and doing their jobs correctly, and take any complaints that parents, coaches, or players may have.
In this position, I was the main contact for players, parents, officials, and CABA in regard to all tournaments. I gained significant experience in organizational skills, customer interactions (management of interactions of parents, players, officials, etc.), and sports management and statistics.

Education

Statistics/Economics Bachelors Degree, University of Colorado
-
At the University of Colorado, I decided to get a degree in something that could set me up for a career in sports. I learned that legendary head coach, Bill Belichick, was an economics major so I decided that would be useful.
I also specialized in statistics to further my knowledge of how to analyze and understand how different strategies translate in sports.
During this time, I focused on large economic trends such as the housing Bubble of 2008, statistic coding languages like STATA, and took many different journalism classes that grew my reading and writing knowledge.
In my senior year, I participated in the Semester At Sea study abroad program where I traveled to 12 different countries, learned about multiple different cultures and countries, and gained a 4.0 GPA while doing so.
Sports Management and Media Masters Degree, Colorado State University
- Present
During my time at Colorado State, I have learned more than I could have ever imagined about sports management, sports history, sports ethics, journalism, social media management, video editing, website creation, and much more.
In sports management, I have taken classes like Sports Law, Foundations of Coaching, Sports Ethics, and Sports Leadership and Management just to name a few. In these classes, I have learned the good, the bad, and the ugly about sports and its effects on society and how a leader in sports can influence and change how sports are used for the betterment of society.
In my many journalism classes, I have learned video editing skills, writing skills, social media management skills, and web design skills. I created this website for my web design class from scratch.
I will be graduating in 2025, but so far, I have become a far more educated, aware, and motivated person in my sports career and look to change how sports are managed to include all people and influence all cultures positively for years to come.
